Primary 1 welcome Orritor Primary School
A Day of Fun in the Sun with Our Friends from Orritor
Today, Primary 1 were delighted to welcome our friends from Orritor PS to St Mary’s for a fantastic day of fun and friendship!
We started the morning with a wonderful performance of our Lord of the Dance, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The children then paired up with their new friends to learn a lively folk barn dance – the Heel-Toe Polka– and what fun we had dancing together! Check the comments to watch our dance!
The day continued with an exciting farm theme across all our play areas
The children:
Built a barn in outdoor construction
Retold and created their own farm stories using puppets
Painted beautiful farm pictures at the art table
Got creative with playdough, making all sorts of farm creations
Coloured farm scenes at the writing table
Enjoyed imaginative play in the farmhouse role play area
Used their fine motor skills at the outdoor tuff tray to cut out animals and create their own farm puppets
Relaxed together on the carpet exploring small world farm play
Outside, the fun continued as the children had a great time racing eggs along water channels at the water tray – lots of laughter and excitement all around!
We finished the day by sharing all about what ‘Bridgey Bear’ got up to on his staycation at St Mary’s. We then said goodbye to our friends and sent Bridgey Bear back on the big bus, ready for another adventure in Orritor!
It was a truly special day. Thank you to our friends from Orritor PS for joining us – we had the best time and can’t wait to see you again!
