Eco Club News - November 2013

The school has received the Bronze Award from Eco Schools NI.  We are currently working towards achieving our silver award.  In order to get this we have one major and two minor projects to complete.  Our major project is going to be on ‘recycling’ and we need your help!!  We now have a battery, ink cartridge and old mobile phone collection points currently in the reception area of the school.  If you have any used batteries, ink cartridges or mobile phones please send them into the school.  The clothing bank at the front of the school is well supported, however we would ask if you have any old clothes that you can donate that they are brought to the assembly hall on the week beginning Monday 25th - Friday  29th November as we have to carry out an audit on the amount of bags being donated.         This is our ‘Clothes Recycling Week’.

We are trying to encourage children to reuse water bottles each day and to bring lunches/snacks in boxes instead of bags in order to reduce waste to promote ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’.

In the 2nd and 3rd term we will be working towards our Green Flag award and we will keep you posted on how you can help then.

Eco-Schools Status & Green Flag Award

St. Mary's Primary School have been successful in achieving the Eco-School Status and gaining our 'Green Flag' with the help from parents, grandparents and the community of Dunamore as this was a whole team effort.
